The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu not to join in the smear campaign and unsavoury comments against their Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
“Asiwaju, as an elder, should not reduce his pedigree by engaging in indecorous utterances which have become the trademark of his party.
“It is also instructive to state that a person of Asiwaju status can conduct his political activities without recourse to indecent language that is lacking in respect for a personality, such as Atiku, whom Nigerians, across the board, have generally resolved to be their next President”, the party said in a statement.
The PDP further stated that its party remains committed to ensuring that the lives of Nigerians are better and the problems facing the country is solved.
“The repositioned PDP and our presidential candidate remain committed to our promise to focus on solutions to the myriad of problems facing our people and transform their lives for the better”.
PDP, therefore, called on the APC’s National Leader to redirect the discourse of his party to productive issues.
Tinubu on Tuesday in Abuja while addressing newsmen after a closed-door meeting with President Buhari and Adams Oshiomhole, said his party APC is not jittery about the said meetings Atiku has been holding to strategise towards 2019 polls, saying in his words;
“We don’t fear, whether he (Atiku) is meeting in the jungle, in Dubai or in Abu Dhabi.”
A statement the PDP has taken as an insult on Atiku.
