Theme:
THERE IS NOTHING HIDDEN THAT SHALL NOT BE REVEALED

Text:
“The Bible says, “Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?” – Isaiah 29:15.

Comment:
God Almighty certainly punishes those who do iniquity secretly. Concerning the ancients or old men who were committing idolatry in the time of Ezekiel, God declared, “Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.” (Ezekiel 8:18) Though the elders were committing these evils secretly, yet God Almighty was seeing them, for His eyes “are in every place, beholding the evil and the good”. (Proverbs 15:3) It should be pointed out that in every society it is to the aged that the rest of society look up to for direction, humanly speaking. They are expected to be “able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness…” (Exodus 18:21) When they play their part well, there would be relative order and progress. But if they lack the fear of God, there would be instability in the system (See Job 32:8)

Surely, God Almighty would hold the aged to account first, before others, in executing punishment. (Ezekiel 9:6) St. Peter exhorted, “The elders which are among you I exhort…Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.” – 1 Peter 5:1-3.
